Part-Time Faculty

Graduate Assistants--On April 17, 2002, the URI Graduate Assistants voted 190-20 in favor of the URI-AAUP to act as their collective bargaining representative. The secret ballot election was conducted by the Rhode Island State Labor Relations Board. There were additional nine challenged ballots, people whom the Administration did not consider to be graduate assistants. The total number of Graduate Assistants eligible to vote was approximately 587. The Rhode Island State Labor Relations Board certified the election results five days after the voting. At that point, the URI-AAUP asked that negotiations begin.
