What class I am in?

Your class year is your expected graduation year as determined when you enter URI based on a four year program. It does not change.

If you enter as a Freshman, add 4 to the year you enter URI, and that's your class. If you enter as a Freshman in the Fall of 2008, you are in the class of 2012.

If you enter with advance standing, say as a Junior, you would add 2 to the year you enter to determine your class. If you enter as a Junior in 2008, you are in the class of 2010.

Even if you are in a five year program, like the IEP, you still base your class year on a four year program. If you enter in 2008 as a freshman, your class will be 2012 even though you will not be expected to graduate until 2013.

What does my class mean?

Your class year determines your graduation requirements. The program may change, but your degree requirements do not change, they remain the same as they were when you entered the program.

Graduation requirements for all programs offered by the University are are listed in the University Catalog, which is published every academic year. Students must follow the requirements from the catalog that was published the year they first matriculate at the University. When a change in program requirements is made while a student is enrolled, the student may elect to complete the program under the requirements in effect at the time of matriculation or to shift entirely to the new requirements, but may not choose parts of each set.
