Type xv at the unix prompt. The window shown in figure 1 comes up.

Click on the window with the right mouse button. The window shown in figure 2 comes up.

Click on the grab button on the control panel. The grab control window shown in figure 3 comes up. Click on grab in the grab window.

Hold the middle mouse button down and drag it across the area to be grabbed. You will see a box has been defined. Release the middle button to complete the grab. The grabbed image will replace the window shown in figure 1.
Click on "save" in the control window shown in figure 2 to save the image.
