Matthew Young, a May 2009 graduate of the URI Biomedical Engineering and Electrical Engineering BS degree programs, has been selected as the 2009 Winner of the Eta Kappa Nu Alton B. Zerby and Carl T. Koerner Outstanding Electrical or Computer Engineering Student Award. The October 8, 2009 Eta Kappa Nu (HKN) award letter states that Matt was selected as the sole winner of the award for being "the most outstanding Electrical or Computer Engineering student in the nation". The award comes with a $1,000 grant from the HKN Koerner Memorial Fund. The formal presentation of the award will be at the ECE Department Heads Association/HKN Board meeting Awards Banquet in March 2010.
HKN is an Electrical and Computer Engineering Honor Society "dedicated to encouraging and recognizing excellence in the electrical and computer engineering field". There are nearly 200 university chapters, including the Zeta Gamma Chapter at URI.
Matt is currently attending Brown University Medical School.
