The Partnership in Physiological Measurements and Computing (PMC) at the University of Rhode Island was founded in January 1999. On April 20, 1999 the PMC Partnership received the URI Partnerships Award and 3-year funding to support its initial development. The focal area of the PMC Partnership is the application of advanced instrumentation and computing technology to the study of human and animal physiology. The PMC Partnership brings scientists, engineers, physicians, practitioners, entrepreneurs, and students from different disciplines together, concentrating on a variety of problems from basic physiological science to novel medical instrumentation. Through project-based courses a unique learning experience is provided for our undergraduate and graduate students. Currently the PMC Partnership consists of 50 members: 25 URI faculty from 8 different departments and 25 external collaborators from local industry, hospitals, Federal agencies, and foreign institutes. Our collaborative efforts in research, education, and outreach are organized along the following five tracks: 1) bioengineering and biomedical instrumentation, 2) research to aid persons with disabilities, 3) computational and experimentational neuroscience, 4) biomedical signal and image processing, and 5) modeling of physiological systems. This website is devoted to the dissemination of information related to the PMC activities. The website is organized as follows:
