There are many differnet types of medical images present in today's world.
Below are a few links to many different types of images, and short explanations for each of them.

MRI Images

(Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is the most sophisticated and popular medical imaging system present today.  By using a strong electro-magnetic field, this system looks at the percent of water in the human body.
Nuclear Medicine Images

Nuclear Medicine is imaging that uses radiation emanating from inside the human body.  This imaging involves a range of techniques that are designed to show physiological functions of individual organs in the body.
Infrared / Microwave Images
Infrared radiation may be used to examine surface vascularity and surface temperature distributions throughout the body.
X-Ray / Angiogram/
CT Images

X-rays are formed by the interaction of x-ray photons that are transmitted through the patient.  These photons are then recorded by a detector, which in turns produces an image.
Ultrasound Images

Ultrasound is one of the most frequently used imaging methods in diagnostic medicine.  This method uses sound to penetrate and interact with the body.
